This policy explains what personal information dalux.lighting (Dalux Lighting (Pvt) Ltd, Sri Lanka) collects, why, and how it is handled. We collect only what we need to take and deliver your order and to answer your enquiries.
What we collect
- Order details — your name, email address, phone number, delivery address and the items you buy.
- Account details — if you register: your email address, a hashed password and your order history.
- Enquiries — the name, email address and message you send through the contact form or WhatsApp.
- Newsletter — your email address, only if you subscribe.
- Technical data — server logs record the IP address, browser and pages requested for each visit, kept briefly for security and troubleshooting.
We do not collect card details. Payment is by bank transfer directly to our account, and the payment slip you send us is used only to match your payment to your order.
How we use it
- To process, deliver and support your order, including emails confirming the order, reminding you about payment, and confirming payment.
- To respond to your enquiries.
- To send our newsletter if you subscribed — every issue has an unsubscribe link.
- To keep the site secure and working.
- To meet our tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that we need in order to run the shop: our courier (name, phone number and address for delivery), our email delivery provider (to send order emails), and our hosting provider (which stores the site and its database). Each receives only what is needed for its job. We will disclose information if required by law.
Cookies and local storage
The site uses a small amount of browser storage to keep your shopping cart and login session working, and to remember display preferences such as dark mode. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for as long as required by Sri Lankan tax and accounting law. Account data is kept until you ask us to delete the account. Contact-form messages are kept until the enquiry is resolved and then periodically cleared. Newsletter addresses are removed when you unsubscribe.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it (subject to records we must keep by law). You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any issue. To make a request, contact us.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored hashed, and access to order data is restricted to staff who need it to fulfil orders.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
